Now I am in a Ph.D program and a legal F1 status, and have no OPT in hand. I just got my H1B approved based on my master's degree obtained 2 years ago. The effective date on the new I-94 is September 1. The following fall semester will begin on August 23.
My questions are
(1) how I can handle the gap between August 23 and September 1? Do I need to
take the ENOUGH courses between August 23 - September 1 so that I can hold my full time F1 status during this 10-day period?
(2) If I register the enough courses in the period, can I drop them after Sept.
1? What I concern about is that
(a) if I drop them, I will have no credit and therefore, no evidence that I am a legal F1 status during Aug.23 - Sept.1.
(b) if I don't drop them or don't drop some of them after sept. 1, I am not legal for H1b status because as H1b status I can study ONLY as part time student.
