Questions on "TN1 Visa" Renew

Dear friends:

I am working in US with TN1 visa, and I get some questions on how to renew it inside US by mail. I did some research on internet, but hope I can get the clear answer from some friends who actually went through such thing before.

1. How to renew it by mail?

2. It is said the employer has to file I-129 form at first, how to do that? Can I do it by myself?

3. Can I send the I-129 and renewal application at the same time?

4. How long it is going to take for the whole process?

5. My current TN1 expire date is 1/23/2004, and I plan to back China for two weeks vacation from middle of December to the begining of Jan,2004, if it is ok for me to enter US without the new TN1 visa?
