You may get a working permit same day when you submit your permanent residence application,which means you are allowed to work legally almost immediately after you get married. You don't have to wait until you get your conditional green card. About 3 years after you get green card you can apply for U.S citizenship. Not sure about the difference between conditional card and formal card,actually i think not much, but one thing for sure is: you can't get divorced before you get green card, otherwise you won't get it.
