I got my H1-B visa approved in Shanghai last year. Here is what I prepared:
1. Original I-797 letter
2. Copies of I-129 with Notary stamp on the back.
2. Employer's letter to verify you're employed.It's better to let your employer say that your trip to China this time is for business. It's easier to get a pass.
3. 2 month lastest paystub
4. Passport, 2x2inch pic, I156 form filled up online
5. If you have any property in China, bring the original ownership certificate.
6. Marriage certificate.
etc
