About H1-B travel to Canada?

Hi All,

Can you provide any successful cases on H1B holder reentering US with expired visa after solely travel to Canada recently? I talked to the International Program, the officer said there is a rule called "Automatic extension of validity at ports-of -entry" associated with H1B holder, but there is no guarantee. Is the rule still valid at any US ports?
