为什么那些撤稿的文章里做microRNA研究方面的所占的比例那么高呢?

恰好我上周审了一篇文章也是关于microRNA的,作者是国内某医院的,投的杂志比Tumor Biology要有名。我看着该文章的数据很漂亮 ,研究的意义也不错,准备给一个好的评价。但一不小心看到作者列出的 microRNA的名称是人的,它作用的基因序列也是 人的, 然而作者用的细胞和动物却是小鼠和大鼠。 问题是该microRNA作用的基因的序列在人和大鼠小鼠之间并不一致,按道理那些按人的基因序列设计的实验在鼠类中不会工作, 但作者提供的数据却工作得非常好。我就很怀疑作者是如何得到这些 数据的。

另外的一位审稿人虽然提出了一些问题 ,但并没有发现这一致命的疑问。如果我没有仔细检查,这篇文章很可能做些小的修改就能发表了。我并没有对编辑说作者造假,但私下认为这种可能性很高。同样,Springer出版社也没有说作者造假, 只是说“After a thorough investigation we have strong reason to believe that the peer review process was compromised.”

看了一下Tumor Biology的107篇撤稿文章的题目,粗略算了一下,有24篇是关于microRNA的,占了总数的20%以上。

我的疑问是:为什么那些文章里,做microRNA方面研究的所占的比例那么高呢? 我不做microRNA方面的工作,不明所以。
