给鸽子，桃子， 糯米和其他喜欢历史的MM， 推荐一套我特喜欢的Audio Books

Modern Scholar 系列的Odyssey of the West， 共８套。 由多位著名历史教授讲西方史，是从古希腊讲到现在，编辑的非常好。 我多年前在图书馆看到，非常喜欢， 听了N遍。

我听到里面讲到让我特别喜欢或感兴趣的话题， 又会去找其他相关的来／听／看。 比如，里面讲到Machiavelli的那章，我很感兴趣， 就去看了Machiavelli写的Prince, Discourses on Livy 和 Art of War (这部太枯燥， 没看完），还有 The Great Courses系列的Machiavelli in Context. 记得里面有 Machiavelli的一段话， 让我感怀致深。 这是Machiavelli政治生涯失败后隐居老家的复罗伦萨的橄榄农庄后， 每天在外处理完农庄鸡零狗碎的杂事后回家：

“When evening comes, I return to my home。 and on the thresh-hold, I take off my everyday clothes, which are covered in mud and mire,and I put on regal robes。 Dressed in a more appropriate manner， I enter into the ancient courts of ancient men and am welcomed by them kindly。  There I taste the food that alone is mine, and for which I was born。

 There， I am not ashamed to speak to them, to ask them the reasons for their actions; and they, in their humanity, answer me。 For four hours， I feel no boredom, I dismiss every affliction, I no longer fear poverty nor do I tremble at the thought of death.”  唉， 这是怎样的一种情怀啊.

还比如， 听了介绍苏格兰哲学家David Hume， 就去找来他的A Treatise of Human Nature，和An Enquiry Concerning Human Understanding 来看。 嗯， 我有感觉， 猫大和桃子可能会喜欢Hume， 特别是猫大 

再比如， 听到古典音乐兴起时代， 就找到了 The Great Courses系列里一位叫Robert Greenberg的著名音乐教授讲的多部Audio Books。 我个人最喜欢讲海顿的那部。 Greenberg自己造诣极高不说， 还特别幽默， 有一把特别的老声音 （桃子可能会喜欢）， 我这个不懂音乐的人都听得欲罢不能。

如此例子太多了， 学了好多东西。

我这些年来，另钻了感兴趣的话题后（上面例子）， 又会重新听一遍 Odyssey of the West， 特别是我最喜欢的第IV， V， VI 部。 这样有会有新的感受和体会。 我没什么目的， 完全是自娱自乐听着玩。

总之， Modern Scholar 系列和 The Great Courses 系列我都大力推荐， 质量很高， 我把我们小县城图书馆的都听得差不多了， 除了讲棒球历史这种完全没兴趣的东西。
