Spouse of H1B

If I am the spouse of a H1B holder, which visa I'd better have in order to be able to work?

 

I know H4 visa can't work till EAD approved: does this mean can't work in US, or can't work internationally? e.g work remotely for another company in Canada etc.? will that be leagal?
