想放生，但不知道在哪里可以买到放生的东西和在那里放？

在国内还经常放生，但到加拿大以后，一次都没有过，因为不知道在哪里可以放，因为听说在加拿大到湖里放东西是违法的，不知道该怎么做，希望有知道的朋友告诉下，谢谢
