Doctor Tests Positive for Ebola in New York City
A doctor just back from West Africa has tested positive for the Ebola virus at New York's Bellevue Hospital, city officials told NBC News on Thursday.
The patient, identified as Dr. Craig Spencer, was working with Doctors Without Borders in one of the countries affected by Ebola. In a statement, New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Columbia University Medical Center said that Spencer was part of its staff and that he had not been to work at the hospital since returning to the U.S. The city health department said his girlfriend was in quarantine but was healthy.
