A question on H1B and EAD

My wife had her H1B and EAD and we are waiting for 485 approvals. But she never used her EAD. She may leave her current job and her H1B is going to be expired. Does she need to inform INS for her new status? Could you advise the best way to keep her legal status in USA if she is not going to find a job tomorrow? It will be fine with her AOS status?
