To 红叶 HELP!! From OPT to EAD

Thank you for your answers. Maybe my question is not clear.

My friend is on OPT until Oct, start to use EAD several days ago (He has valid EAD). So, you think he does not need to do anything if he has EAD? His company is small and HR does not has any experience with EAD. Please let me know if he needs to file angthing to USCIS or do anything to initiate using EAD.
