What will be the consequence if I don't entend my EAD

my wife and daughters EAD will be experied in two weeks, I have asked my laywer, and I have been advised that it will be OK if my wife doesn't want to work, and she can apply again when she like. there is no problem if there is an gap etween your EAD validation days. Is it the case?

my daugter is studying at college, I am wondering whether shee needs to keep a valid EAD card so she can apply on compus job.

Please advise and I ewill appreciate all you in put.
