Most ordinary people only cares about a stable life if their basic rights are not violated. If you or your family are not the target of the Chinese government for any reason and can live a basic life, those people do not feel the lack of basic human rights. That's majority of the population. But if for any reason, your interest are not lined up with the interest of the Chinese party, you can be a target for severe punishment.

If you and your family were targeted by the government simply because you are hard working and they like to share your wealth, you have no place to even fight for any injustice. Like what happened in the 50, 60, 70s.

If you have independent thinking and are not fooled by the propaganda or if you dare to voice any of different opinion or voice your unhappiness about the government policy, you are at the risk of being put into jail or losing your life. But the government still portrait you as a devil and your whole family will be affected. Just see how many people during the cultural revolution, Yu Luojin, Zhang Zhixin, even the 6.4. Tiananmen demonstration.

If you read the Chinese websites about Liu Xiaobo, it's so biased. The people were never given the chance to learn about the truth. I don't agree with some of Liu Xiaobu's comments, but he has the good intention for the country and why the Chinese government is so afraid of letting people know the facts?

Sadly, there are a good percent of people in China don't have good moral standards. They only cares about money and material gains. Their only standard for success is how much money that they makes. They can even bow or kneel down to the dictator if that's what need to gain materially.
For some people, they care about getting their wealth from the Chinese market. But they immigrate their family and kids to the western world at all costs. If you ask why, simply because they lack of trust of the government deeply in their heart.

People in China they are not happy about the government, but they don't dare to speak out. How many people would risk their and their love one's life for a word?

Look at the anger from 89 student movement, the political situation is even worse than that time. The evil acts and injustice are still happening, you are just not hearing the truth.

I pray that Chinese people will never suffer materially, but I also hope that people will not be punished for different political opinion.
