It is possible your video card doesn't support the mode.

In this case, changing video card is your best bet.

In the case where your video card uses default VGA like drivers, you might get away with upgrading the card driver.

However, if physically the video card can never support a 16:9, you need to change your machine.

Well my machine is 8 years old and on XP, it runs multiple display OK, since it uses dedicated video card rather than integrated.
