I can understand your pain as I feel same. I am not doing office work (that might be good thing that I dont have to talk to people all the time), when we are at lunch time or whatever free time, I feel it is hard for me to join them even though everyone is nice. What I try to do is try to focus on my job and if I can help them, I will. so even though I am not their "friend", at least they will not be hostile to me. Cheer up, be nice to people, be yourself as well.
