background check 要多久？

好不容易拿到个offer, 等background check 完成才算正式offer. 从开始到现在将近3个星期了还没有结束。 问了做调查的第三方公司， 只说不需要我提供额外信息， 不告诉我到哪一步，让我问hiring company. 我又去 问hiring company HR, HR 只说还在等background check clearance， 到了通知我。 我 问了我提供的几个reference, 都说几个星期前被联系过了。 我的经历比较简单， 最近 十年都在美国， 没怎末搬家换工作， 没criminal history, etc. 为什末background check 那末久，正常的background check 一般要多长时间？
