Want to change internally, is there any risk?

I do not know yet if there is a good position, just do not like my current group, no too much technical work to do.
What is the best way to do?
apply for internal posted jobs?
talk directly with some other group's leads ?
what if my lead knows?
i never done this before.

can anybody advise?
