I probably shouldn't mention this, but since I have some time today, I'll allow myself to indulge :-) Feel free to ignore please.
One other reason that I think also contributed to your nice situation at work is the fact that you happen to have a "typical" work environment where most of the ppl, both management and peers, are relatively reasonable folks. None of them seem to have a malicious personal agenda against you. I am not talking about the usual competition between peers. It's a slightly different story with an "atypical" work environment, where sometimes even if one does his/her best and does everything right, things are still not smooth.
