Good sign of the company: it is making money, so it's hiring -- and offering options to somebody like you that the management thinks valuable.

And even better sign: the management is sharp, able to get job done right -- it kicks out the bad guy right away. Don't worry about details in that, as that must be a long story, the guy must have done something really nasty, which made the management determined to cut him off.

The "management" means the people involved in business, deals, which could be in any number -- and they must have planned the action for quite a while, after taking care of all issues including legal issues.
