I am currently a MBA student at [University of xx] [Year of Graduation], and am in the process of developing my career transition. Given your experience and your company’s excellent reputation in industry, my research would not be good without consulting with you. I understand that your company may not have any job opening, so please understand that I am only contacting you for advice.

I have 9 years experience in corporate finance and strategy development, most recently as division manager of Corporate Strategy Development for a former Fortune 500 consulting company. My objective is to integrate my experience and education in a position in venture capital industry.

Again, I understand you are busy and may not know of any open position. However, I would appreciate 20 minutes of your time to get your advice. If you are unable to contact me, I will call your office at around 10:00AM next Wednesday [date] in an attempt to set up a mutually convenient time to talk. Thank you for your kindly help in advance.
