FIX BUGS. When the owner team provides information of the bug location, I've found 1) there's another place with the same issue; 2)In addition, there is a violation besides this bug in the location they provided.
The No.2 violation has caused me previous a couple days on another bug, I eventually worked around it "semi-legally" and closed that bug, but the right thing to do is to correct this violation and re-fix the other bug. (I didn't find out this violation earlier because they belonged to different products, communications to them sometimes took several days.)
As such I asked if we should fix those 2 items all together. I'd think they would appreciate my help, to my surprise, their manager (not the director, this team has numerous managers) replied: "please stick to the issues logged by QA". What?! &#%*(@!!! First of all, this is not even a QA bug, it's a "rule police" bug that complains about the pattern violation, this is supposed to apply to all occurences. Anyway, after debating myself I decided not to argue about it. But this pissed my off. What kind of manager was that? (If you know the name of my company you'd be shocked. And I've worked here for over 12 years.)
