The hiring manager was not looking for your answer: how you perform QA test to ensure absolute bug free or 0 bugs; rather, how you could bring your “best practice experience” on board, which may fit their environment – business process infrastructure and system application technology architecture.

Since this is a junior position, the level of expertise requires that you should follow all documentations, procedures, policies and so on, to perform your duties on each testing STAGE, or specific task to ensure your job is done as per required – no bug should be overlooked IS the MINIMUM requirement – 0 bug! In addition, in order to get a raise, your feedback or recommendation to improve the process would benefit the company.

Let’s not fully focus on the BUG itself, but your attitude on the job.

For your information:

1) Prior to its SP1, there were 6000+ known bugs with 600000+ lines of code hidden on the OS which most of us use every day at home.

2) When decision is made to upgrade a large system or application, users would likely prefer to wait until the SP1 or even SP2 is available to download.
