a. I don't think the employer will only pay CPP not EI. I did't see anything in my past two year's public accounting experience. Correct me if i am wrong.
b. If you are self-employeed (eg. you have your own business under your name), the employer will not pay any CPP, EI for you and just pay you a lump sum amount, say 40,000 ,for your half year's service and doesn't care how you pay to yourself.
Therefore,I think you are eligible for EI after working in B.
