a2) if your company pays EI $280, you may apply for EI benefit ONLY when you meet the requirement -- i.e. work a certain number of hours. do you think that if Mr. A worked only 20 hours then he can get EI benefit? or, do you think that Ms. B quit her job after 10 years with company C for personal reason, that she can get EI benefit?
in your case, if company B pays $280 and you work for > 6 months, I think YES, you can apply for EI benefit if the reason for leave company B is due to shortage of work -- laid off.
