please advise me : lao tu and warm hearted XDJM

I am a Mrs, almost in the middle age, 10 years ago got my ph D in mechanical engineering in china and work in USA as an engineer, but actually some time as technician. I work at an University almost 10 years, and I am tired to work such a "chicken rib" job and my current supervisor is not nice to me. So I want start a new area like statistic, I know most people with stat degree are easy to find a job. I want to take 2 statistic classes in this semester (I have benefit.), need 2 or 3 years to finish some courses. Do u think it is better choice for me to change my future career? Any suggestions are appreciated!!!!!!
