请求單身老貓帮忙:未成年人车祸家长的责任

I'm divorced and live in Tennessee. I have sole custody of my daughter (17.5 years old). She lives with her grandma (my ex-wife's mom) in California because we like the school there. I send her grandma her financial support monthly. Last year her grandma bought her a car & signed her driver's license. I'm concerned about her driving because she's always accident-prone. I just learned lately from her grandma that she has gotten into a lot of troubles. This spring the Police found her in possession of majawana and put her on probation. Her grandma found alcohol bottles in her cars twice. She got in 2 car accidents (her fault) and a speeding ticket in the last 6 months.

I searched online for my responsibilities, and got quite scared of the stories where parents had to pay for punitive damage that could be in the millions of $. I'm against her driving, but her grandma didn't take her car away.

If my daughter drunk drives and hurts someone really bad in an accident (paralyzed for example), will I be found negligent and responsible for punitive damage? If so, what should I?

I hope she could finish high school next summer in California. She's only a few months away from graduation. I don't want her tranfer schools at this point unless I have to. That's why I hesitate bringing her back to live with me.
