Do u know how to apply for visa to the Bahamas? Is it expensive and fast?

Since I find I can bid a hotel in Nassau via Priceline.com, do u know how big the island is (according to your impression)? Is it convenient to live in a hotel in Nassau and attend a conference in Paradise Island WITHOUT renting a CAR for 4 days (Just take a bus)? I just want to save money.
