Wenxuecity.com[1] (Chinese: 文学城; Pinyin: Wénxuéchéng), literally "Literature City," is a Chinese-language tabloid website targeting Chineseexpatriates and people who work and/or study abroad for entertainment purpose. Without its own news reporting staff, it is a site that collects tabloid news, gossips and editorial articles, both concerning China and the world from other sources, without any verification. In addition to providing information portal service, it has an active set of online forums, divided into various categories. About 30% of the traffic of the site consists of visits to the forums, such as "子女教育(Raising kids)" "我爱我家(Sweet Home)" and "私房小菜(Private Recipes)" etc.
This is a Chinese-language site that is based in the United States, but run by volunteers with various political backgrounds. Its moderators pretend to be neutral, but censure user's comments that contain "politically incorrect" or sensitive terms. Some volunteers may be sponsored financially by interest groups over the world.
Wenxuecity.com has a broad influence as the largest overseas Chinese tabloid website. It has been mentioned by other media such as the New York Times[2]、BBC[3]、VOA[4][5]、China News[6][7]、China Review News [1][8]
This website is the most popular Chinese-language website outside of China.
