cork is the insert of schrader valve

well, those names are commonly used referring to the same thing on a tire:

valve, valve stem, schrader valve...  the insert of the valve needs to be relatively tight so to make it air tight but not too tight.  using a special tool in the shape of small fork to adjust it.   here is how it looks like:
