美国民主党和共和党的比较之二：基本医疗保险

During the past two years, the Biden Administration and Congress passed measures to improve access to public and private health insurance coverage during the COVID-19 Public Health Emergency including continuing coverage for people receiving Medicaid and introducing policies to help people access and afford the cost of care.

These and other federal and state policies contributed to an increase in public coverage in 36 states, leading to lower uninsured rates in 28 states in 2021. Only one state – North Dakota – had a higher uninsured rate in 2021 than in 2019, according to the Census Bureau’s 2021 American Community Survey (ACS) 1-year estimates.

In 2021, 8.6% of the U.S. population had no health insurance coverage. It improved from 9.2% in 2019.

Based on the 2020 Election results, a state is BLUE if it voted for Biden, RED if it voted for Trump.

In 2021, the uninsured rate ranged from 2.5% in deep blue Massachusetts to 18.0% in deep red Texas.
Among the top 10 states with the lowest uninsured rate, 9 blue states and only 1 red state (Iowa).
Among the 11^th – 20^th states with the lowest uninsured rate, 8 blue states and only 2 red state (Kentucky and West Virginia). However, it should be noted that the governor of Kentucky since 2019 has been Andy Beshear, a Democrat; and the governor in West Virginia was a Democrat before he switched to Republican.
Among the 31^st – 40^th states with the highest uninsured rate, 9 states red states and only 1 blue state (New Mexico).
Among the 41^st – 51^th states with the highest uninsured rate, 9 states were fully controlled by the Republican parties.
