既然有妈妈问起trust,我就另外开贴说说我的心得。
我的Hyatt legal plan covers如下项目。貌似建trust的同时，这些也需要都同时做了。

-为何要建trust?
防止意外发生而使财产进入probate以及提前为小孩和父母做好规划，包括抚养赡养。
-如何选律师？
因为只能选Hyatt legal plan participants，所以名律师就不能选了。我是查了方圆50miles的所有trust律师。先看years of experience, education, location and yelp review (if available). Once narrow down to a handful, call to make an appointment for meeting each candidate. 我的plan covers unlimited consultation. 往往聊过之后会发现原来没有想到的细节，所以建议多见几个律师。见面时确认具体收费情况及观察对方是否有比较好的professional manner. 通过interview，更多了解what you want to achieve through setting up a trust based on your unique circumstances.
-建simple trust vs. AB trust
我不是专业人士，这里只是浅谈。simple trust 基本上是如一方去世，surviving spouse继承全部财产。AB trust 是如一方去世,一部分(一般是一半）进入irrevocable trust set for kids. 这样减少surviving spouse再婚，而原配子女最后分不到钱的可能。
我建的是AB。我的同事的名律师也建议她做AB。律师说“The more you take care of your husband, the better the relationship you two are in, the sooner the husband will remarry after you die. Simply because he is used to be taken care of and can hardly survive on his own, especially mentally."
-建trust复杂吗？
Yes and no. No pain no gain. 一套draft几百页纸（包括上面的5项），都要通读。准备资料也很多。但我认为值得。我是独女，孩子又小。安排好他们的生活是我的责任。建一个trust基本涵盖了全部身家。银行账户需要自己去改，房产由律师所负责re-record the deed（所以建trust是一个很认真的决定，但如果以后想revoke the trust, the deed can be restored to its original recording, i.e. held separately by one spouse, or jointly held。) 我的总体花费在1，000元以下（保险部分没有关注最后花了多少）。
