It's your responsibility to have an interview with candidates rather than hiring from word of mouth. It's your responsibility to lay out ground rules before she started. Set your standard for the nanny so she knows what to do. If it doesn't work out, you have reasons to move on.

In my opinion, it's a lot of hassle and risk to hire a friend who's not a professional. It muddies the water more when you don't have clear instructions. You are exposing your own child to the unknown. All the lessons for your future hiring if you stay with nannies.
