in that draft. Portland passed on him NOT because he was not clearly the best, but rather they had Brandon Roy, who was a terrific wing player, and a proven young all star. They picked Oden instead, a very nimble big man. Unfortunately, Oden's career was hindered by injuries, and never took off.
Portland passed Michael Jordon long time ago, which was proven to be the worst screw up in NBA history of drafting. KD could well be the second worst screw up by the same team.
LeBron James had similar treatment when he was drafted by Cleveland. Jeremy Lin would never get such treatment in any team, based on his talent.
He's getting paid very well, is a starting PG of a very young and exciting team. He still gets media attention, and is getting along with teammates well. He's improving his game gradually.
He really doesn't need any more pampering:)
