Another choice:

If the Public school allows the child to study with B2 status or even if he “黑”了 (some school may not care), the child does not need to maintain his legal status, then after you or your spouse become a US citizen, you or your spouse can sponsor the child to get the green card within US. Thus, the child can get the green card in several months after you become a US citizen and he “黑”了 does not affect his green card application in this case.
