In late 1960s, 5 out of 6 children will be sent to
Yun2 Nan2 or
He1 Long2 Jiang1.
An Hui
Jiang Xi.
Every two years, they will come back home.
One may be lucky, s/he is in Cong2 Min2 Dao. This person came back every month.
When they leave, they will bring rice, flour, bacon, ham, sausage, clothes, all came out of the Father' salary. A motor-Tricycle (you can still find them in today's India) will carry him/her to the railway station.
When the train leaves, everyone cried out loud.
That is life for Shanghai-nese in early 1970s.
