does anyone have experience being induced?

My OB scheduled my induction at exactly 39 weeks. I never questioned it because up to now it felt so far away. Now that the date is actually approaching I am having second thoughts. Does any one here have experience being induced (rather than going into labor naturually)? In my case there is no medical reason to be induced, but it is being done for convenience -- so that my OB, rather than a random doctor at her group practice, can deliver my baby, I know exactly when to take off from work, I can arrange for child care for my older child, etc.etc. Thank you!
