probably 20min walk to Chinatown if you cut straight west

and Chinatown would give you the best bang on the buck. If you want to stay in the area:

1) in the same building as the embassy suite, there is a Chinese place called something like Lily's noodle. Not too bad.

2) walk south along the river (which is quite a nice walk), about 10min in, you will see a Chinese restaurant near South Cove facing the water. Also not too bad.

3) in the World Financial Center (across Vescey street from the embassy suite), on the first floor, there is a Chinese restaurant. Very Americanized, and very popular among office workers at American Express and Merrill Lynch.

If I were you, I would take a cab and go to Chinatown. Enjoy your stay in NYC!
