Common practice and general consensus, which were proven by NBA history, if you are up only 1, with 1 second or less left, you try to make both. If you miss the first, you miss the second intentionally. If you are up 2, you try to make both, if you miss the first, you try to make the second, and make it a NON-LOOSING situation.
