I always put my Ph.D. degree on my resume

In my own opinion, Ph.D. is a hard warned degree, it means you are smart enough in your field.
And good enough to do other jobs if you like.
As long as you are happy to transfer field and be able to explain to the HR why you are happy to do that job, they will be more happy to hire you, because they know you have a better value.
Therefore, not necessarily to hode your hard earned degree.
