Except job, I will say LA is a better place to live from weather and Chinese culture point of view.
And since your base is already in LA, better not move unless you have to or you get real goo offer in another place.
The winter in 风城 (the other name of Chicago) is cool, as cool as in Beijing. Totally different with LA.
After move to California, I will not move back to Chicago even Fermilab offer me some gov job.
