My LD worked in this area before. GE Healthcare is world first class company for large medical image systems as CT, MRI, etc. Of course it will help if you know some about signal/image processing, but nowadays medical softwares are more and more complecated. they may need database or other IT knowledges. Be well prepared, it's a good one. Good Luck!
