When your colleague say something bad about you in front of you,

These days I am working on buy a equipment. Today there is a colleague said we shouldn't buy this equipment because bla bla. The real reason is because he want to buy another equipment for himself use.

What I should do? I should argue with him. Or keep silent.

Don't want to be in bad relationship with this colleague.
