You might get lot less what you put in. Because the financial institutions will put your pension fund into the market to invest. When your retire time comes, they will look into your pot, see how much there is; then go to the market to buy a pension for you.

i invested £1000 with Lloyd's TSB senven years ago.. Now it only worth £650. If I sell it, Lloyd will take more. If I had put the money into a saving account, I should have got more than £1200. I do not trust other people with my money.
if I have some spare cash, I will put into my house to pay off my mortgage early; or buy another property to let out. I might look into stock market myself, but not leave my money with those fat cats in those investment banks.
