I believe players bear more blame than the coach. Yao passes well for cutters and back-slashers, but his pass out of double team isn't accurate enough. That's one aspect he has to work on diligently.
I've noticed for quite some time, that Yao often waits for double team to commit, and then make a pass out, which is very predictable. I want him to make a move immediately, as soon as he receives the ball. He has a higher chance to beat single coverage. If he can make a couple of baskets, double team will come early and commit more determined, he would have create better open shots for his teammates, and benefit the offense flow. OTOH, Yao needs to draw more fouls and obvious fouls while shooting jumper, by mixing it some pump fakes. Defensive players will jump for sure, given his jump shooting reputation and sheer size.
