Since you talk about manuever, I want to ask few Q's.

I am watching a DVD version of TV series named "Sha Chang Dian Bing" (I am bad at PingYin so forgive me if I made mistakes). I saw that both army fired at each other during manuevers. Did they use real stuff (real bullets, shells, RPGs, etc)? If so, how can they avoid human casualties and weaponry damage? If not, how can they determine if they have destroyed "enemy" entrenchment/defense or break down "enemy" offense/formations? These questions puzzle me along with the progress of the show. Military experts, please resolve my questions, thanks in advance.
