POW got a cigarette from an American soldier whose squad was walking by after the German uttered fluent English.
I remember that the German introduced himself being from Tennessee or Texas. After exchanging few words (i would call them friendly conversation), the group of American soldiers turned around and walked away. Soon they heard gun shots and turned and saw the German POW got killed (to avenge the American POW's loss).
It was clearly a violation of Geneva Act (of POW) though but anything can happen on battlefield.
