Question about citizenship(base on marriage)

I'm a green card holder. I will apply for citizenship next year. But, for some reasons that I have to work at another city. If we cann't live in the same city, can I still apply for citizenship base on marriage? Do we still have to pay tax together? What kind of documents do I have to prepare before apply? Thank you for your help.
