The dismiss of Chen has nothing to do with cracking down corruption. The so-called corrupted life style of Chen just gave Hu extra pretext and made the dismiss more justified in public. In fact, there are many more Chinese officials who are more corrupted than Chen. But they are united behind Hu as strong political force. In current CCP, it does not matter if you are currupted as long as you can control youself. It critically matters if you obey politically with No.1.
Hu got rid of Chen because he disobey politically Hu from very beginning. Chen is simply a political opponent of Hu. Chen lost, miscalculating his bet that Jiang would support.
It is typical of CCP internal struggle. I really like Chen's incident would continue further. It may very well go further. But I doubt that Hu would touch the son of Jiang as rumored in internet.
