Any advice for Washington DC

Trip?

I'm planning to visit Washington DC with my childen at the beginning of June. Four nights stay and five days. Can anyone give me any advice about hotel stay? How about around Washington University? Also sightseeing suggestions? I'm not going to rent a car. This will be our first time there. My 13 year old son is really into this trip. My 4 year old say he doesn't care. Please help. Thanks a lot. I booked a room for $154 near the university and I'd like to find some place cheaper but close to the city center. Thanks a lot.
